Rep. Fitzpatrick on Guns and Giffords Anti-Gun Money :: 06/05/2014
GOA rated Fitzpatrick (R-PA-8) "100%" because of his views on firearms. Based on the GOA rating, and his record prior to Toomey-Manchin, Fitzpatrick won the support of grassroots organizations in the 8th Congressional District. Now we find that he is accepting monies from Gabriel Giffords PAC. That's a slap in the face to every law abiding gun owner who supported him. The ONLY way to recover from this insult is to apologize by RETURNING EVERY PENNY HE'S RECEIVED FROM GIFFORDS. We're hoping that word of the attempts to disenfranchise firearms owners gets back to him, and he returns Giffords money, and issues a written apology to his constituents. We watch, we act, we support pro-gun candidates, and most importantly, we VOTE!
Bloomberg weighs in on AR-15 Open Carry :: 06/04/2014
WE, as gun owners and activists, must always be on guard against the unintended consequences of irresponsibility. One proponent of the Texas crowd opines that Bloomberg is paying them. A pundit replies "No, I don't think OCT is getting paid by Bloomberg, they are so stupid they are doing it for free."

In this article, from Associated Press, the NRA's Chris Cox says "it was a low level staffer. It shouldn't have happened", but here's the first comment from NRA, who took a stance that squares with most responsible gun owners. "Using guns merely to draw attention to yourself in public not only defies common sense, it shows a lack of consideration and manners. That's not the Texas way. And that's certainly not the NRA way," the unsigned statement said. It remained on the NRA's website early Wednesday.

Washington (AFP)-US lawmakers moved to boost funding of the national background check system for firearm sales, a small but symbolic step toward broader gun law reform following recent mass shootings. The measure would provide $19.5 million to help states submit records to a federal database aimed at preventing felons and the mentally ill from buying weapons. Supporters of the amendment, which passed 260 to 145 as part of a $51 billion spending bill for the Commerce and Justice Departments expected to be approved later Thursday, say the measure would keep guns out of the hands of potentially dangerous people.

The differences between gun rights advocates and those who favor forcible citizen disarmament are thankfully both numerous and vast. Perhaps the most fundamental of those differences is that while those of us who dedicate ourselves to defending the means to protect one's life, family, and liberty decry every high profile shooting for its senseless evil, the gun control advocates agenda actively requires such atrocities. Without heinous slaughter of innocents, the gun prohibition agenda is dead in the water.

Feinstein said we must ask ourselves if an individual whose family called police with concerns about mental health, who is receiving therapy and who has had several run-ins with police should be allowed to own multiple firearms and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.

Democrats in the House and Senate are proposing that the government spend $60 million to fund research into the causes of gun violence, and the best way to curb that violence. Legislation they introduced Wednesday would authorize $10 million a year for the next six years to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which would study gun violence prevention and firearms safety.
HB 1537-the end of the Fourth Amendment :: 05/26/2014
HB 1537 follows closely on the heels of a recent court decision that says that in Pennsylvania, police can now search your car. The state General Assembly is moving forward with a bill that would give cops the authority to arrest people caught with "secret compartments" in their vehicles, even if there is nothing illegal in those suspicious containers. Our rating on this legislation is 'anti-gun' and we will oppose this.

Gun Owners of America filed an amicus brief, in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, in support of Connecticut gun owners who challenged Connecticut's ban of so-called "assault weapons".
