No Bail in Non-Violent Gun Free School Zone Case in Montana :: 09/05/2023

On Wednesday, August 23, 2023, Gabriel Cowan Metcalf was arrested at his home. Federal agents of the ATF arrested Metcalf for possessing a firearm in a federal Gun Free School Zone in Billings, Montana.  Gabriel Metcalf had a Rossi single-shot break action 20 gauge shotgun in a scabbard on his lawn mower. A search warrant was executed during the arrest. The warrant shows the agents also seized six rounds of ammunition and a Samsung phone.

Study Finds That Constitutional Carry Laws Reduce Murder Rates :: 09/01/2023

A new study by John Lott and John Moody has found that concealed carry laws may reduce murder rates in the long run. The study, which was published in the journal Economic Inquiry, found that the effect of concealed carry laws on murder rates takes time to manifest but that it is negative and statistically significant in the following years. When you read “negative,” understand that means concealed carry is reducing the murder rate.

Back in March 2020, a dozen or so sheriff’s deputies wearing bulletproof vests descended upon Waylon Bailey’s home in Rapides Parish, Louisiana, with their guns drawn, ordered him onto his knees with his hands on his head, and arrested him for a felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
