Anti-2A lawmakers wasted no time during the first week of the legislative session and already introduced numerous bills.  The more egregious bills included multiple versions of an “assault weapon” ban, microstamping, raising the age for purchasing an “assault firearm” to 21, banning open carry, mandatory waiting periods, State-funded buy-back programs requiring firearm destruction, and mandatory storage. San Francisco still sitting on carry permit applications? :: 01/19/2023

Since the Supreme Court handed down its decision in NYSRPA v. Bruen last June, most of the “may issue” jurisdictions around the country have dropped the “good cause” or “justifiable need” language from concealed carry applications and have begun issuing more carry licenses, however reluctantly. One exception appears to be the city of San Francisco, where officials are apparently keeping every applicant over the past seven months in a legal limbo; neither approving nor denying their applications.

Bill Filed to Decertify All NRA Instructors and Strip NRA From the Virginia Code :: 01/18/2023

Along with a plethora of anti-gun bills introduced last week, House Bill 2164removes any NRA references from the firearms Code of Virginia and repeals authority for special license plates in support of the NRA.
