St. Louis residents are alive, and bad guys are dead. :: 06/12/2014

"ST. LOUIS. A husband and wife armed with guns were able to stave off an apparent home invasion Monday night, police said.
One man was killed and a second taken to a hospital in the incident, which happened about 11 p.m. in the 4600 block of Newport Avenue."
Read the entire article, and then ask "what were these two bad guys doing on the street?" We wonder if our detractors would have been happy to have had a gun in the house if faced with these same circumstances.

IRS caught red-handed breaking the law :: 06/11/2014

"WASHINGTON — The IRS appears to have been caught red-handed breaking federal law in its zeal to criminally prosecute conservatives for their political activities.
The House Oversight Committee has revealed the IRS sent the FBI a database containing more than a million pages of confidential taxpayer information that is protected by federal law.
Attorney General Eric Holder's Department of Justice, or DOJ, is now admitting the FBI should never have had that data in the first place.
The information was delivered just weeks before the 2010 elections to the FBI, after a conversation between Richard Pilger, an official with the Justice Department's Election Crimes Branch, and former IRS Director of Exempt Organizations Lois Lerner, a central figure in the scandal."
If Holder thinks it's illegal, that means it positively criminal.

The true Hero in the Las Vegas murders :: 06/11/2014

"Joseph died attempting to protect others."
Clark County Sheriff Doug Gillespie.
He managed to change the predetermined dynamics that, expletive deleted, Jerald and Amanda Miller had planned for the Walmart shoppers. He lost his life but many others were saved.
"In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing. The worst thing you can do is nothing."
 Theodore Roosevelt
Joseph Robert Wilcox had a license to carry a concealed firearm. We wish the outcome would have been better, but this hero gave his life so others might live. Our hearts go out to him and to his family.

Vermont gun importer blames White House rules for layoffs :: 06/11/2014

"MONTPELIER, Vt.-A Vermont gun importer is blaming the White House for its laying off of 41 workers because the government blocked its plan to bring nearly $30 million worth of antique, American-made military rifles home from South Korea.
The White House's refusal to allow Century International Arms, of Fairfax, to re-import the World War II-era M1 Garand rifles is an apparent result of new rules set up last summer concerning requests to ship military-grade firearms back into the United States.
"This importation was denied despite our explaining that the denial would harm the company and pointing out that there is no rational, gun-control reason to block the importation of these historic, 70-year-old firearms," the company said in a statement posted on its website Thursday."
And Century International was looking for a "go" on re-importation of these 'weapons of mass shooting' from the Obama administration? This sucks, and it's because, in large part, gun owners sat on their duff while Obama walked into the White House twice!

Why Does Pennsylvania need to address disparity of force? :: 06/11/2014

This is an extremely long read, but it is crucial to your understanding of the limits imposed on law abiding citizens by the Castle Doctrine. If you carry a gun for self defense, you MUST read this article. You MUST also understand that using lethal force to combat and defend against disparate force may or may NOT result in charges filed against the victim of an attack. It's up to the DA.

Swatting- a new game that's not funny-not at all :: 06/09/2014

"In recent years, a small amount of hackers and gamers have been "Swatting"-anonymously reporting fake hostage situations, shootings, and other violent crimes so elite police units (like SWAT teams) will bust down the doors of unsuspecting people's homes.
Swatting is a dangerous and expensive prank. It's also easy to pull off. With SWAT teams and paramilitary gear becoming the norm across America, these calls have predictably chaotic results."
When you couple this idiotic "game" with the training SWAT and CIRT teams receive, it's only going to be a matter of time before someone is killed, or their home ends up looking like a piece of Swiss cheese.

Why are municipal police officers gearing up with military equipment? :: 06/09/2014

NEENAH, Wis. — Inside the municipal garage of this small lakefront city, parked next to the hefty orange snowplow, sits an even larger truck, this one painted in desert khaki. Weighing 30 tons and built to withstand land mines, the armored combat vehicle is one of hundreds showing up across the country, in police departments big and small.
The 9-foot-tall armored truck was intended for an overseas battlefield.
And what 'battlefield' does the Neenah, WI Police Department face? Neenah is one of hundreds of small town and large town PD's that are gearing up for Armageddon. Why?  Note that this story comes to us not from some fringe group, but from the New York Times. When mainstream press questions the motive, one might think hard about the militarization of law enforcement.

Gun Control runs counter to Civil Rights :: 06/06/2014

This year marks the 50th anniversary of many pivotal events in the civil rights movement, and to commemorate "Freedom Summer," Tell Me More is diving into books that explore that theme. One of the cornerstones of the civil rights movement was non-violent resistance. During lunch counter sit-ins and protest marches Martin Luther King Jr. and other civil rights leaders instructed participants not to take up arms. Instead, when violence erupted or force was used to disrupt their activities, people would non-violently resist attempts by law enforcement to end the protest. But this passive resistance did not necessarily mean an unwillingness to use force to protect themselves from violence in other circumstances.
