Data shows there's more diversity at a gun range than a university faculty lounge :: 01/24/2022
“Gun-ownership in America is diversifying, because of safety fears,” says a headline over at The Economist. As those of us in the Second Amendment community have known for a while, the sociopolitical climate since the start of the pandemic – egregious criminal–coddling behavior by the state, releasing dangerous prisoners because of COVID, nationwide “fiery but mostly peaceful” riots, rising violent crime, looting / shoplifting, hate crimes, falling trust in law enforcement – contributed to a sudden surge in gun purchases by groups historically not inclined to own them. The Economist reported the following:

Second Amendment Supporters Should Learn From Biden Blunders :: 01/22/2022
In some ways, Joe Biden has only himself to blame for his lousy situation. Biden’s blunders have, for now, ensured the Second Amendment is safe on the federal level, especially with Senators Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin again refusing to kill the filibuster.
Two-Faced :: 01/22/2022
We are all familiar with the idea that lies can grow. It is, however, doubtful any of us have ever told a fib that grew as big as the Left’s lie about America’s gun-owning public. Simply stated, this lie claims that all of America’s armed citizens are to blame for the illegal behavior of criminals who use guns.
It is easy to see why politicians such as President Joe Biden (D) are attracted to this falsehood, as it empowers those who use it to take away our right to keep and bear arms, which then gives them the control of the public they desire. Meanwhile, despite all the facts that dispel this lie, they have powerful messengers to spread and defend it in the mainstream media, Hollywood and academia.
USCCA on how muggers pick their targets :: 01/22/2022
The best tool anyone can have is knowledge. While firearms can be vital, knowing enough to avoid needing them is generally better. After all, no one gets prosecuted for avoiding the need for a self-defense shooting. While I won’t cry over a dead mugger, I’d still hate it for anyone who gets prosecuted because the DA things they could have slithered through the three-inch opening in a locked gate behind them.

Shockingly, Everytown blames gun rights for gun deaths :: 01/21/2022
Most people don’t really know how to read a study. It’s not something we’re taught in school, after all. So, when a study that blasts gun rights comes out, most people take it as a matter of faith that it’s accurate. After all, these are the experts, right?
The US has banana republic–like voter ID laws :: 01/21/2022
Most Americans are simply unaware of how weak and haphazard our voter ID and absentee ballot laws are compared to those in other countries. I want to do a quick overview of U.S. laws and then compare them to those in Europe, Canada, and Mexico.

Beware Biden’s Desperate Anti-Gun Pivot, When All Else Fails Confiscate Guns! :: 01/20/2022
The Biden-Harris administration is trapped inside a hostile media spotlight, a victim of their own incompetence. They’re like a cornered animal – desperate for a way out, but clearly willing to settle for anything that would shift the public focus off of their ever-growing list of foibles. They’re a consistent bunch, that much is true. They consistently lurch from one self-inflicted crisis to another, while we pay the price for their mistakes.
How Technology Will Change Exercising the Second Amendment :: 01/20/2022
It has been said that the one constant in the universe is change. That is certainly true when it comes to the technology involved in the right to keep and bear arms. Indulge a little stroll to 40 years ago.
Man with BB gun killed by police :: 01/20/2022
Anyone who has ever had a gun pointed at them can tell you that even a .22 looks like a .45 ACP in the heat of the moment. You don’t really break out the calibers and measure the bore diameter in that instant. You just assume it’s big enough to end you and act accordingly, which is why pointing a BB gun at police or anyone else who has a firearm is an epic failure of cognitive function.
New study on firearm related suicide can't prove what we all know :: 01/20/2022
A recent research letter concerning suicide by firearm highlights something that most gun owners already know. The short form of what was reported is that gun owners are not going to tell health care providers that they own firearms. Okay, that’s at least the conjecture that the authors of the paper were not willing outright say. The study involved looking at death due to suicide Between January 1, 2016, and December 31, 2019 in Washington State. The paper, Patient-Reported Firearm Access Prior to Suicide Death, does put a good deal of effort in extracting information from the Washington State death records and electronic health record data they had available. Some of this data was not considered “sensitive” enough to require consent from patients.
A 2A grassroots success story from New Jersey :: 01/19/2022
It’s one of the funny quirks of SHOT Show that you can travel thousands of miles and find a story from much closer to home. That’s the case with today’s Bearing Arms Cam & Co, where we’re featuring a conversation with Tony Simon, one of my favorite people in the world and the founder of DiversityShoot.com and 2A4E (Second Amendment is for Everyone).
Can the DC Project be the 2A counter to Moms Demand Action? :: 01/19/2022
We’ve all become familiar with the gun control lobby’s group of red-shirted women demanding more infringements on our right to bear arms, but Moms Demand Action isn’t the only game in town when it comes to a female-centered movement dealing with gun ownership. Since 2016, the DC Project has been attracting a growing number of women who support the Second Amendment, and at this year’s SHOT Show, the group’s founder Dianna Mueller hosted a press event to help spread the word about the organization and its efforts around the country.
Growing the Gun Community in Unlikely Places :: 01/19/2022
We mentioned a Beverly Hills gun shop last week in an article about the continued increase in background checks and gun sales. We spoke with the proprietor of that shop, and he offered a very humanized take on a story often told with large numbers and broad strokes concepts.
