Harrison County deputies say a woman who stabbed the man at a GoMart last week did so in self-defense.
They say Clint Grimes, from Alabama, went into the store to buy alcohol, but employees wouldn't sell it to him because of his level of intoxication. Grimes then apparently tried to steal something and Nora Carroll, a woman working there, and Stephen Daugherty, her fiance, confronted him.
Grimes allegedly tried to fight Daugherty and Carroll stopped it. Grimes left. Deputies say when Daugherty went to see if Grimes left the property, there was then an altercation between the two men outside the store. Caroll went to check on them and tried to break it up again. That's when Grimes apparently grabbed her by the throat and shoved her up against a car. She was able to pull out a knife and stab him in the leg.
Grimes is charged with misdemeanor battery.
