Louisiana Self-Defense: New Orleans police investigate after man shot by person he was trying to carjack :: 01/26/2024

The New Orleans Police Department is investigating after a person shot a suspect accused of trying to carjack them. 

The attempted carjacking was reported in the 7300 block of Chef Menteur Highway around 2 a.m. Friday. 

Police say that the victim shot the suspect, identified as Johnathan Edwards, when he tried to carjack the victim. 

Edwards was taken to an area hospital for treatment. 

Police say they will arrest him and book him when he is released from the hospital. 

The victim is cooperating with the investigation and is not facing charges at this time.
