Another Cautionary Tale About Registration :: 03/13/2023

There are myriad lessons to be learned from how gun owners are treated in other countries. Perhaps the most important one is: We must always be thankful our nation’s Founders had the foresight to recognize the importance of enshrining the protection of our right to arms in the Second Amendment.

Anti-gun activists melting down over "pause" on merchant codes for gun stores :: 03/13/2023

The gun control lobby is taking the news that companies like Visa and Mastercard have hit the “pause” button on their rollout of new merchant category codes for gun stores about as well as you’d expect. That is to say, there’s a lot of frothing at the mouth and complaining that the companies are “caving to the gun lobby”, as well as dubious claims that these codes would actually be helpful at identifying potential violent criminals and preventing them from carrying out their crimes.

"Live fire" tests for gun owners violates Second Amendment, says... Harvard Law Review? :: 03/13/2023

My buddy Jim Wallace of the Gun Owners Action League likes to refer to Massachusetts as a “Second Amendment battleground state”, and he’s not wrong. Beleaguered gun owners in the Bay State are subjected to a host of unreasonable restrictions on their right to keep and bear arms, and if anything the Supreme Court’s decision in Bruen has only made anti-gun activists and politicians more eager to slap more laws on the books.

Supreme Court Uses “Major Questions” Doctrine to Rein In Federal Agencies :: 03/13/2023

Once again the impact of Supreme Court justices nominated by former president Donald Trump is being felt, this time on the illegal, unconstitutional so-called fourth branch of government. Often referred to as “the administrative state,” it encompasses the vast array of federal agencies operating outside constitutional constraints and utilizing powers illegally and unconstitutionally granted to them by the legislative branch.

Bloomberg Group Tries to Pass Project ChildSafe Kits as Its Own :: 03/11/2023

Billionaire and failed presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg should be able to pony up the money for his own gun control agenda, but one of his initiatives was caught red-handed trying to pass off the firearm industry’s Project ChildSafe safety kits as their own.

Carry applications soar after "pay-to-play" CA sheriff resigns :: 03/11/2023

It’s a new day in Santa Clara County, California… kind of. For years, the county saw only a handful of residents apply for their concealed carry license, in large part because few applicants were ever deemed to have the “good cause” required to be approved. But while the average Joe was unable to exercise his right to bear arms in self-defense, the former sheriff of Santa Clara County was also abusing the discretionary authority of her office to grant rarely-issued permits to campaign donors and other VIPs in the community.

Fourth Circuit panel appears skeptical of Maryland's "handgun qualification license" :: 03/11/2023

Back in 2013, as part of its Firearms Safety Act, the Maryland legislature created a Handgun Qualification License, which does not actually permit you to possess a handgun. Instead, it’s a permission slip to undergo a background check and go through the process of purchasing a firearm at retail. Not only does the law impose an additional and extraneous burden on would-be gun buyers, it adds to the cost of exercising your right to keep and bear arms by mandating a four-hour training class at a live-fire range as well as paying for your fingerprints to be taken and submitted to the state police.

Huge: Major credit card companies halt rollout of codes for gun store purchases :: 03/11/2023

The merchant category codes demanded by gun control groups that were announced to great fanfare last fall are now in limbo after major credit card companies, including Visa and Mastercard, announced on Wednesday that they’re halting their rollout of the codes in response to a number of bills filed in red states that bar the use of the codes and promise fines for those credit card companies that use them.

Bruen's "chaos" is a much-needed correction :: 03/09/2023

Ahead of four decisions on California gun laws that are expected to soon be released by U.S. District Judge Roger Benitez, the Los Angeles Times is advancing the narrative that the Supreme Court’s Bruen decision is sowing “chaos” in the courts. But as we discuss on today’s Bearing Arms’ Cam & Co, upending the untenable status quo is a good thing, particular given how the judiciary has abused “interest balancing” tests to regularly uphold infringements on a fundamental right.

Biden's Attack on 'Ghost Guns' Fits a Pattern of Lawless Firearm Regulation :: 03/08/2023

Washington, DC – -(AmmoLand.com)- During his 2022 State of the Union address, President Joe Biden promised he would “keep doing everything in my power” to eliminate “ghost guns you can buy online and assemble at home.” But Biden actually tried to do something that was not in his power: He purported to ban that previously legal business by administrative decree, provoking a preliminary injunction that was expanded last week.

Bill introduced to hold ATF accountable and aid the law-abiding :: 03/08/2023

The ATF has not been in the best graces of the American people for quite some time now. At least, the law-abiding gun owners of the United States are well aware of the egregious actions they’ve executed, as well as illegal regulations they have enacted. Everyone else that’s not paying attention could afford to crack open a history book and be re-acquainted with the ATF’s historic slaughtering of innocent people at the Waco massacre or learn about their affinity towards dogs. With all of the negatives of the ATF, they must have some positives, right? Given that, a new bill has been introduced that’ll allow the ATF to shine by keeping their more negative traits at bay.

It is Hard to Defend Bad Law- Magazine Capacity Bans in California :: 03/08/2023

The State’s lawyers submitted the bad news on California’s magazine ban. Both sides had to submit briefs to the federal district court last Friday. The California Attorney General didn’t have much to work with given that the firearm magazine capacity ban was so egregious. The state’s lawyers pulled out every spurious argument they could grab as they scrambled to justify their law.

The most ridiculous "I'm a gun owner, but" ever? :: 03/07/2023

The gun prohibition lobby loves to claim that the vast majority of gun owners support their “reasonable” infringements on an inherent individual right, to the point that they even create their own astroturf groups like “Gun Owners for Safety” and the now-defunct American Hunters and Shooters Association.
