Political Corruption and Headline Surfing Leaves Our Children at Risk :: 10/25/2019

Our view of violence is wildly distorted. We don’t know the truth, but I think we can handle it. In the USA today, we think TV shows and the “news” represent reality. They aren’t. Instead of the truth, the news media feeds us the preferred biases of their selected audience spiced with titillating and emotionally charged subjects like violence and sexual scandal. That formula sells soap, insurance, and drugs, but it is also selling us a dangerous brew of politics. Unfortunately, that witches-brew of lies could get our children killed.

Pollster's Comment May Explain Supposed Support For Gun Control :: 10/25/2019

Not a month seems to go by where we don’t see some headline claiming that there’s massive support for gun control among the voters. Regardless of the proposal, it seems there’s an outsized positive response to even the most ludicrous policy proposals. It’s baffling in so many ways.

Wait. . .How Many People Think We're on The Edge of Civil War :: 10/25/2019

The American Civil War was brutal. It remains the bloodiest conflict we have ever fought. It defined the nation and left an imprint that remains to this day, but it was for the better. For starters, the rigid regionalism that was heavily entrenched was washed away. Americans viewed themselves as…Americans, not Virginians, Alabamans, Georgians, or New Yorkers first.

Bloomberg's Everytown just makes up gun facts :: 10/24/2019

Let us help out Michael Bloomberg’s Everytown. For a group that claims to know a lot about guns, they apparently aren’t familiar with one of the best selling books ever from the University of Chicago Press: “More Guns, Less Crime.” There is also information from the National Crime Victimization Survey. Here are a couple of discussions from that book.

German Synagogue Shooter shows futility of gun control, uses homemade guns in attacks :: 10/24/2019

The number one goal of the 27-year-old man, Stephan Balliet, who attacked a synagogue in Karlsruhe, southern Germany, was simple: “1. Prove the viability of improvised weapons.” While he killed two people outside the synagogue, his plans were thwarted when he couldn’t get inside. His guns also jammed, apparently he failed to test out his guns before his attack.

The Details of a Gun-Control Master Plan :: 10/24/2019

March for Our Lives, the gun-control group founded after the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., has issued what it has termed a “peace plan.” A better description might be, “A Comprehensive Plan to Abolish the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.” At its core, the program seeks to transmute gun ownership from a liberty that can be asserted against the government into a privilege that Americans can enjoy only with the permission of the state. Or, to put it another way, the program aims to repeal the Second Amendment without going through all that unpleasant “written-amendment” stuff.

7 facts about guns in the U.S. :: 10/23/2019

Guns are deeply ingrained in American society. The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution gives Americans the right to bear arms, and three-in-ten American adults personally own a gun. Most of these gun owners say the right to own firearms is essential to their own personal sense of freedom.

Pittsburgh Mayor Looks For Allies In Anti-Gun Fight, Comes Up Empty :: 10/23/2019

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is locked in a legal fight with several residents and Second Amendment organizations over the local gun control ordinances, including a “red flag” provision, that were signed by Mayor Bill Peduto earlier this year. At issue is the fact that in Pennsylvania, the state legislature alone has the power to regulate gun laws, which anti-gun politicians like Peduto find unacceptable. The mayor says he tried to get other cities in Pennsylvania to pass local gun control ordinances in an effort to challenge the state’s firearms preemption law, but couldn’t get any other municipality to join his anti-gun crusade.

Conservatives should thank Democrat presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke for exposing just how negative his party views Americans’ Second Amendment rights. O'Rourke finally admitted publicly what leftists talk about only in secret — namely, how to achieve their goal of a disarmed America.

Infringed- Is the Right of Self-Defense Half Full or Half Empty? :: 10/22/2019

A growing number of us go armed in public. John Lott, Phd added up the number of concealed carry licenses. By his numbers, we’ve added millions of new people who have a permit to carry concealed. What we’ve ignored is the tens of millions of law abiding citizens who were denied the right to keep and bear arms. Judges routinely ignore laws that infringe our rights.

Who the Hell Do They Think They Are? :: 10/22/2019

Retired Admiral William McRaven devoted the bulk of a New York Times op-ed to appropriating for himself the moral and hence political authority of generations of soldiers and sailors (pointedly, especially the female ones) who have sacrificed for America, for “the good and the right.” Then he gratuitously stated—citing no specifics, as if everyone already knows—that “President Trump seems to believe that all these qualities are unimportant or show weakness.”

Guns Save Lives. . .but not in Democrat Controlled Cities :: 10/21/2019

Democrats were shouting about gun control a few weeks ago. Their confiscation crusade crashed when Donald Trump started investigating the corrupt dealings of Vice President Joe Biden and his son in Ukraine. The news may have moved on, but all that breathless news coverage reminded me how glad I am that we can carry concealed. I know people who were the victims of violent crime. With all the media coverage of gun-control, why doesn’t the news media report on the victims who defend themselves?

Police Organizations Torch 2020 Democrat's Gun Confiscation Plan As Asinine, Ridiculous, and Likely Unconstitutional :: 10/21/2019

Former Rep. Robert Francis O’Rourke (D-NM) (aka ‘Beto’) is the left-wing blowhard on guns that liberals fear. Why? Well, it’s because he gives up the playbook and he did so on a national stage. You all know about his plan to confiscate so-called scary guns from the hands of the law-abiding citizenry. AR-15 rifles, one of the most popular in the U.S., and AK-47s are the two scary rifles anti-gun liberals want out of the hands of civilians. Only the government can be trusted with guns is the de facto position of the Democratic Party—and Beto did a crackerjack job in picking Kent State University to make that pitch. Because nothing says trust government with guns than a site where the National Guard shot and killed four students in 1970.
