I suppose there’s one bit of good news for the tens of thousands of Illinois residents who’ve been waiting for a year or more for their Firearm Owner ID cards; thanks to the lengthy delays by the Illinois State Police their information wasn’t yet entered into a database that was the recent target of hackers attempting to gain access to the personal details of FOID card holders.

It's Not The Wealthy Hurt By Gun Control :: 08/04/2021
Gun control is one of those ideas pushed by many of the same people who claim to be the champions of the poor. It’s amazing to me how often those denigrating the wealthy and calling for more effort to help the poor, then take on positions that negatively impact those very same poor people.

Pro-Gun...But Not Pro-2A? :: 08/03/2021
It seems that misunderstandings, deliberations and debates about the meaning — and the scope— of the Second Amendment often focus on whether it protects the keeping and bearing of arms for: (a) the maintenance of a militia, (b) the prevention of tyranny (foreign or domestic) or (c) the prolongation of self-defense … or, of course, a conglomeration of those three things. And these differing ideas may help explain why some folks claim to support firearms when they don’t really support the Second Amendment. In fact, there are many people who blatantly disagree with some (or all) of those 27 words, arguing that guns should be designated only for certain activities or for certain people.

The 80 Percent Lower, the Ghost Gun, and the ATF :: 08/03/2021
The trouble with technology is that it grows faster than it can be regulated. At least this is something that might be considered when the time-labored process of legislation is met with the growth rate of homemade guns. As 3D printed gun files, incomplete components, and the internet have jumped centuries in providing a way for private citizens to produce their own firearm in their own home, we're no longer looking at simply hand-crafting a flintlock pistol, but actually completing a functioning semi-automatic firearm all within the four walls of a condo. On the one hand, the old terms of the relationship between the agency colloqially referred to as the ATF are no longer relevant, and on the other hand, new terms such as “Ghost Gun,” and concepts like an 80 percent lower now populate a the news, feeds, and Search Engine results of people around the world.

The Lesson of Cuba: Never Give Up Your Guns...Ever :: 08/02/2021
As we noted in a post earlier today, the media and politicians feign incredulity at Americans who pledge they will never give up their guns. They cite polls claiming a majority of Americans support outlawing AR-15s or other firearms. Surely no one could could reasonably oppose regulating these dangerous weapons of war.
The very racist history of gun control :: 08/02/2021
The American Civil Liberties Union caused some double takes last Sunday with a tweet blaming racism and “anti-Blackness” for the presence of the Second Amendment in the Constitution. It was jarring to see the ACLU, once an indomitable champion of the Bill of Rights, endorse the revisionist view that one of its core components, the right to keep and bear arms, exists for malevolent racial reasons.
2A Breaking Ground In Hollywood :: 07/31/2021
There is no dispute that the loss of life in any manner is something that is tragic. Every day this website covers stories that deal with violence committed with firearms and the failed policies that enables such events to occur. The topic of firearm “accidents” and the negligence that comes from the uneducated is also acutely discussed. No one writer here can speak for all, however, it’s safe to say that we do all advocate for the safe, responsible, and lawful ownership and use of firearms. Education is the key to achieving the goal of having no firearm incidents.
