Wisconsin Self-Defense: Homeowner kills intruder in struggle in Kenosha, police say :: 09/17/2022

KENOSHA, Wis. - A homeowner killed an intruder during a struggle inside their home, according to Kenosha police.

Police said they got a call around 7:20 p.m. about a man damaging cars at random and trying to break into houses near 64th Avenue and 69th Street.

They said the man did force his way into a house, where he got into a physical struggle with the homeowner, who killed the intruder.

"As it was happening some of my family members heard a loud thump, then a scream," said Alfredo Monroy, the next-door neighbor, "Policemen were just coming down the street, there was probably a dozen or more police officers here."

"It takes your breath away, and especially seeing so many police vehicles, emergency vehicles were everywhere. It was like a red glow through the neighborhood," said Marna Glover Krueger.

Residents on Christmas Lane told WISN 12 News that the intruder started on their typically quiet street, damaging vehicles.

"It's scary, it really is," Mary Mancini said.

Mancini shared her home surveillance video with WISN 12 News. It showed the intruder interacting with an across-the-street homeowner, yelling and banging on the door.

This was minutes before the intrusion over on 64th Avenue.

Neighbors told WISN 12 News that they are taken aback, but glad that the homeowners are OK.

"I'm glad that they were able to defend themselves and keep their home and our neighborhood safe," Monroy said.

Police are not releasing any details about the man who was killed. They said there is no threat to the community.
