Texas Self-Defense: Woman claims self-defense after killing boyfriend in northwest Harris County, police say :: 11/19/2019

A woman is claiming self-defense after she shot and killed her boyfriend inside their home in northwest Harris County, police say.

The two were arguing inside the home in the 5900 block of Pincay Oaks Drive around 10:45 p.m. Sunday when the 25-year-old man assaulted the 45-year-old woman, she told deputies. She pulled a gun and shot the man in the chest, according to Harris County Sheriff’s Office homicide detective Sgt. Ben Beall.

The woman called 911 and immediately confessed to the shooting, Beall said. Paramedics rushed to the home and pronounced the man dead.

She later told deputies that she was defending herself from being attacked further, Beall said. He said the woman is being cooperative with detectives as they interview her.

Beall said deputies have been called out to the home multiple times in the past, although it was unclear if those calls for service were made by the couple in question or previous tenants.

Detectives are conferring with prosecutors to determine if she will face any charges.
