SAN ANTONIO (WOAI/KABB) - We have received reports of a possible shooting at an abortion clinic in the Medical Center area.
Officers were dispatched around 8:30 Saturday morning to the 7400 block of John Smith, near the intersection of Wurzbach and Babcock roads on the Northwest Side, for reports of a shooting in progress.
When officers arrived, they found there had been several gunshots to the building, but nobody had been hit.
According to witnesses, a couple arrived at women's clinic together and the suspect shot at the woman as she was trying to enter the building.
There were protesters gathered outside the building at the time of the incident.
One of them had a concealed carry permit and he fired back at the suspect, stopping him from shooting the intended victim.
“He absolutely saved this young lady’s life," said SAPD PIO Chris Ramos. "He did something a reasonable person would do and he saw someone engaged in a shooting and he stepped in and intervened and stopped that shooting from occurring.”

Police don't know at this time if the suspect was hit, he ran away after the good Samaritan fired back.
Officers are still canvassing the area looking for the suspect.
Police did find a gun near the location that they believe was the weapon used.
Officers believe this was a domestic violence situation, not related to the abortion clinic that is at the location because the intended victim and the suspect know each other.
The intended victim was take to SAPD headquarters for further questioning.
This is an ongoing investigation.
