Texas Self-Defense: Police Spokesperson Commends Elderly Man Who Shot 'Attempted Intruder' Dead :: 07/29/2016

San Antonio Police Department spokesperson Douglas Greene is commending an elderly man for his interactions with police and for defending his wife and home by shooting an “attempted intruder” dead.

The actual shooting occurred on July 21, around 10 a.m. in San Antonio, TX.

According to My San Antonio, the elderly man–who is “in his late 70s” — heard 42-year-old Troy Dell Wilson trying to gain entry. SAPD’s Greene “said the elderly man pleaded with the attempted intruder to stop his efforts to get into the couple’s home, but the man continued to force his way into the home, eventually breaking the door handle.” Sensing that Wilson’s entrance into the home was imminent, the elderly man fired one round, striking him in the chest and killing him.

The elderly man’s wife — “who is in her late 60s” — was home at the time of the incident as well.

Greene commended the elderly man for the way in which he responded to the situation–“first calling police, informing authorities he had a gun in his home and then making attempts to stave the would-be intruder’s attempts to enter his home.”

Medical personnel arriving on scene attempted to save Wilson’s life, but to no avail.
