HARRIS COUNTY – A homeowner in his 60s fatally shot a man who jumped a fence into his yard and charged at him early Friday evening.
The homeowner caught the suspect breaking into his car that was parked inside his yard and charged at him with an unidentified object. That’s when the homeowner shot him at least once with a shotgun. The suspect died at the scene.
The homeowner called police after the incident and waited for officers to arrive. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and after an investigation, deputies said they don’t expect any charges to be filed against the homeowner.
The homeowner’s son said it’s the second time his father has been robbed in the past two weeks.
“If you’re breaking into a place at 7 in the afternoon and the dude is there, that’s pretty stupid,” said Ray, the homeowner’s son. “Hopefully now the word will get out and people will think twice before they jump the fence.”
The suspect is said to be a 35-year-old Hispanic male. The homeowner has lived at his residence off Airline at W. Gulf Bank for more than 40 years.
