Texas Self-Defense: Homeowner Uses Sword and Antique Gun to Stop Home Invader :: 01/21/2015

File this under weird, but still technically a defensive gun use.

An Austin, Texas resident, Lawrence Faz, broke into an apartment with a knife and tried to rob the occupants. However, one of the roommates was having none of that.

He ran into his room and grabbed a sword along with an antique gun. He then used the rudimentary weapons to chase off Faz.

According to KXAN:

Grabbing the sword and gun, the roommate told police he confronted Faz in the living room and called 911 immediately after Faz ran off.

Just more than two hours later, police got a call at 5:10 a.m. about an aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon just across the street at 12166 Metric Boulevard. Two people told police they were standing outside their apartment smoking a cigarette when Faz approached them and asked for a cigarette. He allegedly brandished a knife and demanded money, drugs and anything else they had with them.

Police say both were in fear for their lives because Faz was “waving the knife and held it to” one of their throats. At one point, Faz allegedly swung the knife at the person’s face, “causing a minor visible injury to his left cheek.”

Police arrested Faz at a nearby apartment after his brother convinced him to come inside.
