Tennessee Self-Defense: Chattanooga woman defends herself, others; shoots man trying to assault her :: 01/22/2017

A woman who shot and wounded a man trying to assault her Sunday morning was defending herself and others, Chattanooga police say.

Police were called to the 2700 block of Sixth Avenue Court shortly before 11 a.m., where they found Dieshunn Lindsey with a gunshot wound, according to a news release

Investigators learned the shooting actually took place in the 2000 block of Duncan Avenue as Lindsey argued with a woman, Latesha Hinton.

Lindsey was trying to assault Hinton and "she reasonably feared for herself and others" when she shot him in self-defense, the release stated.

Lindsay subsequently was arrested on unrelated warrants and faces new charges of aggravated assault and five counts of reckless endangerment in this case, police said.
