NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — UPDATE: Metro Police are investigating a claim that a deadly shooting in East Nashville Thursday night was self-defense.
Qamaurio Williams, 18, was shot and killed in a breezeway of Dellway Villa Apartments at 299 Dellway Villa Road.
Police said the 20-year-old shooter claims that Williams approached him in the breezeway, grabbed him and demanded money at gunpoint. The 20-year-old then pulled his weapon and shot Williams multiple times.
Williams was taken to Skyline Medical Center where he later died. The victim nor the shooter lived at the apartments.
After the shooting, the shooter fled and called emergency communications to report the incident. His gun was collected by police, who released him after giving a statement.
Police said a second gun was not found at the scene.
No charges have been placed in the case.
A man died after being shot at an apartment complex in Talbot's Corner Thursday night.
Metro Police responded to a shooting at the Fallbrook Apartments on Dellway Villa Road just off Dickerson Pike just after 8:20 p.m. on May 14.
Officers found a male victim with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest in a breezeway near one of the building at the complex.
The man was transported to TriStar Skyline Medical Center.
Police said multiple cars in complex and the side of the building were hit by bullets in the shooting.
The victim wasn't a resident of the apartment complex.
Police are investigating the shooting.
