BELTON, S.C. —A 60-year-old Belton man has died after being shot, but no charges are expected in the case, according to investigators. Anderson County deputies were called Thursday morning to a home on Henry Thomas Road about a domestic dispute.
Deputies said they found a handgun lying on the trunk of a car and a 44-year-old woman and another person standing near it.
Deputies searched the home and found Daniel Marvin Bratcher lying on the floor with a gunshot wound in the stomach. Bratcher was taken to the hospital, where he died.
Anderson County Coroner Don McCown said it appears Bratcher went to the home in, forced his way inside and was asked to leave. He and a woman in the home got into a physical altercation before the woman shot him with a .38 caliber handgun.
Lt. Sheila Cole, with the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, said investigators believe that the shooting was a case of self-defense.
