The media has made a big deal of highlighting the comments of virtually every politician who has weighed in on the ISIS situation in Iraq and Syria.
However, perhaps the most blunt, to-the-point comments made to date have been largely ignored by the mainstream media.
Senator Rand Paul (R-KY), who is seen by many as a possibly GOP presidential candidate in 2016, made the following comments in both a speech and in a follow up email to the Associated Press,
If the president has no strategy, maybe it's time for a new president.
If I were President, I would call a joint session of Congress.
I would lay out the reasoning of why ISIS is a threat to our national security and seek congressional authorization to destroy ISIS militarily.
Paul, who has some libertarian political leanings has long been accused of being a foreign policy isolationist.
Could these recent comments be enough to round out Paul's appeal as a presidential candidate?
