HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. (WJAC) — Blair County Sheriff James Ott said Thursday he is suspending the processing of applications for license to carry permits to limit exposure of coronavirus in the Blair County Courthouse.
The order, effective 3:30 p.m. Thursday, is tentatively in place until April 6, barring any further spread or restrictions related to the virus.
"As a community leader, my primary responsibility is not only the safety of my employees but the community as a whole," Ott said in a statement. "With that being said, as your Sheriff I truly respect and honor your Constitutional Rights and Second Amendment.
"Given the current situation and potential risks involved the members of my office and I believe this decision is in the best interest to all involved."

The Pennsylvania Department of Health said Thursday they have seen 185 positive cases of COVID-19 in the state, with one death. None of the confirmed cases have been in Blair County, or any other county in the 6 News viewing area.
