Pennsylvania Self-Defense: Suspect dead after homeowner shoots him in home invasion: police :: 09/09/2017

The suspect in an apparent home-invasion was shot and killed Sunday morning in Dauphin County after investigators say he beat someone at another home with a baseball bat.

The Lower Paxton Township Police say the incident occurred like this:

Police were called around 6 a.m. Sunday to the 2000 block of Fairway Lane where a 911 caller said a man was trying to kill him.

While police were on their way, dispatchers told them another 911 call came in, stating the suspect was beating a man with a baseball bat in the driveway of the home.

Several minutes later, police got yet another report stating the suspect was attempting to break into another house on the same block.

As the suspect forced his way with a baseball bat into the second house, the homeowner shot him once in the abdomen. The suspect, who has not yet been identified, was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

At the home of the first call, an elderly woman was found in the driveway and was brought to the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center for head-trauma treatment. Police believe the incident may have started with a domestic dispute between the suspect and a resident of the first home.

There is no public safety threat from the incident. Anyone with information should contact the Lower Paxton Township Police, 717-657-5656.

This post has been updated to show that it's unclear if the injured woman was the same person police say was beaten with a baseball bat.
