Pennsylvania Self-Defense: Stabbing reported in Pottstown was in self defense :: 12/30/2015

Police responded to a reported stabbing on the 300 block of Apple Street Monday night.

Police said they received a call for a domestic disturbance at around 6 p.m. Tuesday night that resulted in the stabbing. Authorities said that upon arrival on the scene they learned that a man and a woman, whom they have declined to name, were engaged in an argument that turned into a physical altercation.

The physical altercation then allegedly escalated to the point where the woman stabbed the man in the leg.

After an investigation, police charged the man with assault. Officers determined that the stabbing was an act of self defense against the man and ultimately decided that the woman would not face charges.

The man refused medical treatment for the minor stab wound, according to police.

In addition to Pottstown Police, Goodwill Ambulance responded to the scene.
