Pennsylvania Self-Defense: One dead after shooting in Springdale Township :: 02/05/2018

SPRINGDALE TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Allegheny County 911 was notified about a home invasion, by a known person, and shots fired at 1206 Butler Road, just after 10 a.m. on Sunday. Springdale Township police responded and found the Joseph Secora, 39, lying in a field across the street with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The residents of the home were unharmed.

Detectives from Allegheny County Police Homicide Unit were called to the scene and initiated an investigation. They revealed the man was shot by a resident of the home, after he had broken through a rear, glass door and entered the residence. The motive for the invasion is unknown, but it is believed the intruder had mental health issues.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
