According to NBC Philadelphia, a man, identified as Angel Suarez Medero, climbed onto a second story apartment balcony in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The man began masturbating on the balcony before breaking into the home and stealing a dog from inside. Medero then jumped from a second story window with the dog.
Medero then broke into a first floor apartment and began assaulting the residents inside.
One of the residents was armed and opened fire on Medero, who still continued to fight despite suffering close range gunshot wounds.
Medero was eventually subdued and taken into custody by police. He was transported to an area hospital for surgery where he remains in critical condition.
The dog that was stolen ran away during the ordeal and is still missing. The dog, named Ollie, is a 4-year-old, penny-colored long-haired dachshund and weighs approximately 17 pounds according to the NBC report. The owner is hoping he can be found.
This incident is the one of the most common types of defensive gun uses. That is, one in which no one was killed.
