A man was killed during an attempted home invasion Friday in Pittsburgh’s South Side Slopes, according to police.
Authorities identified the man as Daniel Ling, 18, of Baldwin.
Police responded to a home on Monastery Avenue about 9 a.m. for a report of a robbery, said Public Safety spokesman Chris Togneri.
He said a resident in the home reported he’d been robbed. Police subsequently found a man’s body on the property, Togneri said. He’d been shot.
Investigators believe Ling, who was armed, attempted to rob the resident of the home, and a struggle ensued. Togneri said the resident got a hold of the gun and shot Ling on the home’s rear patio.
The resident was taken to the hospital where he was treated for a head laceration.
