Pennsylvania Self-Defense Shooting: Woman's Boyfriend Shoots and Kills Her Estranged Husband :: 09/30/2014

A Pittsburgh, PA woman's current boyfriend shot and killed her estranged husband when he broke into the woman's home this week.

According to local media reports,

According to police, the woman told 911 dispatchers that she believed her estranged husband had gotten into her home through a first-floor window.

Police say that's when the woman's boyfriend, armed with a gun, came down the stairs and fired.

"As he was ascending the stairs, he encountered his estranged wife's boyfriend, and the boyfriend pulled a gun and shot him three times," said Sonya Toler, of the Pittsburgh Public Safety Department.

Police also said that the estranged husband, Laray Jones, was carrying a gun when he broke in.

The boyfriend in the case had a permit to carry a gun, although that wouldn't matter in this case as the incident took place in a private home.

Both the boyfriend and Jones had legal permits to carry weapons, police said.

The boyfriend was taken away by detectives for questioning. His name has not been released and police aren't saying if he will face charges.
