Panera Bread armed robberies show futility of corporate anti-gun policies :: 09/10/2014

Yesterday, this column talked about how an online poll on the “progressive” MSNBC website about Kroger and guns mirrored the true marketplace power of grassroots gun rights advocates compared to Bloomberg’s subsidized Astroturfers.

Later in the day, similar results were shown for a CNBC poll about guns at Panera Bread, a company that, unlike Kroeger, has bowed to pressure from Bloomberg harridans and asked customers not to come armed. Note that like Starbucks and Target, they are not requiring it.

So naturally, the MILMs and their media fanboys are crowing "Victory!" I’ve been having a bit of fun with that in my spare time, and even getting a rise, showing it’s not just Prozis who can use Alinsky Rule 5 to advantage.

Trying to find source material on Panera Bread and guns, I came across a news report that pretty much makes every point I could hope to: a video about an armed robber who fired shots in – you guessed it – a Panera Bread outlet. Note Examiner’s publishing tool limits video sources that can be grabbed, and this one can’t be reproduced here, so by all means take a moment and watch it at the link in this paragraph.

There’s no obvious date on the story, but an apparently related one from August, 2013 said a Panera Bread store manager and her boyfriend were charged.

Then there was a Panera Bread armed robbery in 2012.

How corporate intends to protect its customers from these types of incidents, particularly the ones involving its own management employees, remains unstated.
