BLOOMSBURG — A Pennsylvania gun show vendor is seeking probation after allegedly shooting a woman while demonstrating a weapon holster.
Forty-four-year-old Geoffrey Hawk faces a simple assault charge for the accident. The Press Enterprise reports he waived his preliminary hearing Wednesday.
Police said Hawk shot customer Krista Gearhart in the thigh during a June 28 gun show at the Bloomsburg Fairgrounds in central Pennsylvania. She was treated at a hospital and released.
Hawk said he doesn't know how a bullet got into the .380 semiautomatic pistol. All guns displayed at the show in Columbia County are supposed be unloaded.
Defense attorney Eric Winter said Hawk will apply for a program for first offenders that could allow him to clear his arrest record if he completes all its requirements.
