Oklahoma Self-Defense: Man shot, awaiting charges after breaking in to OKC apartment :: 09/06/2022

Oklahoma City Police responded to the scene of a burglary on Tuesday morning. 

Police say a man and woman were inside their apartment on Cherry Hill Ln. in Oklahoma City when they heard someone trying to remove the AC unit from their window. When the pair went to look, they saw a black male coming in through their apartment through the window. 

The man inside the apartment told police that he had shot the intruder in the chin. 

According to the police report, the intruder allegedly used to be in a romantic relationship with the woman who lived in the apartment.

After being shot, the suspect fled from the scene and drove to his home in Del City off of Delmar Dr. and Briar Ln., where someone living in the home called 911 and had him taken to the hospital for his injuries. 

Del City Police responded to the home on Delmar Dr., where the suspect's truck was examined by crime scene investigators before eventually being towed away.

The condition of the suspect is unknown at this time. 

Police say they are awaiting the District Attorney's Office to review the case and determine charges against the suspect.
