Ohio Self-Defense: Unidentified man dead after East Price Hill robbery shooting :: 11/20/2020

A man is dead Friday following reports that an East Price Hill store employee shot a man attempting a robbery.

Authorities have not yet identified him and are asking for the public's help.

Police said Thursday that a person was shot while attempting to rob a convenience store around 4:45 p.m. Officers reported that a store employee fired the shots.

The man was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. The employee was not injured.

Cincinnati police say the man is in early 20s and has tattoos that say, "Est. 2001," "Olivia T." and "Edward" all in a cursive font.

Cincinnati police have listed the incident as a felonious assault, but have not released the name of the employee.

There have been at least two prior instances in the Price Hill neighborhood in which store clerks or owners have shot would-be robbers by firing at them.

In 2015, a store owner at the G&J Market shot a man during an attempted armed robbery. In that case, the suspected robber survived.

And in 2019, the Hamilton County Prosecutor's Office did not file charges against a female clerk at the Glenway Pony Keg who shot and killed an armed man attempting to rob the West Price Hill store.
