New Hampshire Self-Defense: Auburn resident fired shot at intruder, police said :: 10/27/2016

Auburn — A resident shot a gun at an intruder that attempted to burglarize their home, police said.

Officers responded to the Wood Hill Drive area to investigate a report of shots fired during a possible burglary at about 8:30 a.m.

A resident had confronted an intruder inside 56 Wood Hill Drive, said Lt. Charles Pelton.

A shot was fired, but no one was injured police said.

The intruder then ran into the woods, which prompted an extensive search with State Police, Rockingham County Sheriff's Office and police K-9s.

The man was spotted near Severance Beach on the northwest edge of the lake, but police eventually lost his track, Pelton said.

The suspect is described as a white male, between 30- and 40-years-old, with gray hair and a gray beard.

Pelton said he does not believe the man poses a risk to public safety.

The residents of the home are the owners of Rig A' Tony's, a pizzeria in Derry.
