Nevada Self-Defense: Employee shoots, kills man in 'likely case of self-defense' :: 12/11/2020

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The Las Vegas Metropolitain Police Department confirmed a homicide investigation was underway in the west valley.

Authorities said detectives were investigating in the 5800 block of West Flamingo Road Friday evening.

Lt. Ray Spencer said that a man, believed to be homeless, was attempted to break into the United Way.

That individual then went across the street to attempt to break into the Auto Find, a used car dealership. One employee at the car dealership attempted to confront the man outside when an altercation ensued, Lt. Spencer explained.

The employee was shoved to the ground where he hit his head. Shortly thereafter, the employee pulled a gun and shot the deceased victim.

The employee then attempted to render medical aid and call 911.

Detectives were still working to interview victims as of Friday evening but Lt. Spencer said they expected the shooting to be a case of self-defense.
