Police were called to investigate a disturbance and shots fired in the 8300 block on Pershing Road in Raytown, MO. The resident says although he knew the intruder, he grabbed his gun to defend himself against the armed man.

The resident fired a warning shot to scare the unwelcome intruder from his home and that was enough to send him running.

“It was like a war zone. There was policemen everywhere, hands up and machine guns,” neighbor Megan Troyer told a local news station.

“They had the guns out and everything and I didn’t know what was going on. They told everybody to stay in the house. They had the road blocked off and it was very frightening,” she said.

KCTV reports that when they approached the resident at his home for an interview, he was in the middle of packing his car, saying he was “moving out for good”.

No injuries were reported in the incident and no arrests have been made.
