Missippi Self-Defense Shooting-Suspected burglar shot in face by Jackson resident :: 09/15/2014

Johnderious Curtis shot a suspected burglar in the face Sunday.

WJTV reported, Curtis' family, startled by barking dogs, looked out the window and saw his car lights on.

Curtis' mother, Alberta Taylor-Harrissays the suspect ripped the dashboard out of her son's car, took the radio, some shoes and ammunition.

Witnesses say the suspect had a getaway car.

"There was a car down their waiting on him, they got in the car and they sped off," Curtis' sister, Kerrisa Murray said.

Jackson Police Department Spokesperson Officer Colendula Green says the 28-year-old suspect was taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center. His injury are not life-threatening.

Police said Curtis will not be charged in the shooting.
