Michigan Self-Defense: Home Intruder Meets Shotgun-Toting Homeowner :: 03/09/2016

This is one home intruder who will now think twice about breaking into a home.

Joanne Borsodi says she heard noises outside her Bangor, Michigan home Friday evening while entertaining friends. When they went out to investigate, it gave the home intruder the opportunity to slip into the home.

But he didn’t expect to be greeted by a shotgun.

“I grabbed the gun and told him to get out of the house,” she said. “If someone wasn’t in the house, he could have snuck…he could have killed us.”

The quick-thinking homeowner held the man at gunpoint until the police arrived.

“Their actions protected them, and also helped us in apprehending the suspect,” said Tommy Simpson, with the Bangor Police.

The intruder, 28 year old William Brewer, was arraigned Monday on felony charges of breaking and entering and assault. He is being held on $75,000 bond.
