Michigan Self-Defense: Gas station clerk opens fire to foil robbery in Mount Clemens :: 04/25/2019

A man who police say attempted to rob a Mount Clemens gas station Wednesday had the tables turned on him when a worker opened fire.

The alleged 27-year-old armed robber was shot six times and wounded, the Macomb County Sheriff's Office said.

Investigators say the suspect entered the Mobil at 116 S. Main at about 5:10 p.m. wearing a mask and wielding a handgun.

The employee, who also was armed, shot the manmultiple times in different parts of his body before deputies were called to the scene, sheriff's officials said. No other injuries were reported.

The alleged would-be robber, who is from Clinton Township, remains in critical but stable condition, officials said.

The suspect, who was in possession of a .22 revolver handgun, is a possible suspect in several other recent incidents, officials said.

Investigators plan to present their findings to the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office, which will decide whether to authorize charges against either the 25-year-old clerk from Detroit, who legally possessed a 9mm handgun, or the suspect.
