Meanwhile in the Gun Control Capital of New York City: 15 Shot in 8 HOURS :: 08/19/2014

No city in the United States has stricter gun control laws than New York City. Is is ridiculously hard for normal law abiding citizens to own a firearm for self defense inside their home, let alone carry one outside of it.

However, the strictest gun laws in the nation aren't enough to stop violent crime involving firearms inside of the Big Apple.

According to Fox New York, 15 people were shot in NYC over and 8 hour period this weekend,

Fifteen people were shot in a rash of violence in New York City.

The violence left two people dead and 13 others injured within a span of just 8 hours.

The NYPD reported the first shooting late Saturday. It happened at an East Harlem Park.

In that incident, 3 people were shot, with one of the victims being seriously injured, at Jefferson Park on 113th Street and First Avenue; Shortly before 3 a.m.

As this story illustrates, violent crime can occur regardless of the laws in place. As we've pointed out before, criminals don't follow laws. Shooting people and murder are already felonies, yet people still do those things.

We'd also be remiss if we didn't point out the fact that there is nationwide outrage at the shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, but there is virtually nothing in the media or activist circles about the situation in New York.

Also, if a single person with a semi-automatic rifle shot 15 people in an 8 hour period it would be national news for weeks.
