Kentucky Self-Defense: DCSO releases intruder's identity after being shot by homeowner :: 05/21/2019

DAVIESS CO., Ky. (WFIE) - Authorities responded to a shooting in Daviess County, KY Tuesday morning.

Dispatch says a man was shot in the 7900 block of Hwy 405.

According to the sheriff’s office, a homeowner called 911 around 8 a.m. about his neighbor, Charlie Jean, trying to breaking into his house. The homeowner said the man was acting strange and threatening.

The sheriff’s office says the homeowner shot Charlie Jean twice in the chest after the man got inside. Deputies say the neighbor was also armed.

“Apparently the intruder came in one time. Mr. Collins was able to convince the intruder that he needed to leave. He did in fact leave, however, a short time later he came back, this time armed.″ said Daviess County Chief Detective Bill Thompson.

Jean was taken to the Owensboro Health Hospital where he had surgery to remove the projectiles and treat his wounds.

According to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, Mr. Collins is not facing criminal charges. But, authorities anticipate charges will be filed against Charlie Jean after he’s released from the hospital.
