Wichita Police said a burglary suspect is in surgical intensive care Tuesday after forcing his way into a home and getting shot by the homeowner.
Police said a 39-year-old man and his girlfriend were sitting at their 1400 E. Morris home when someone knocked on the front door just before 11 p.m. Monday. A 30-year-old man with a gun then forced his way into the home.
The homeowner managed to wrestle with the suspect, take the gun and shoot the suspect. A second individual who showed up with the suspect ran away and has not been found.
The suspect was brought to the front yard of the home with multiple gunshot wounds. He's being treated at a surgical intensive care unit. Police said the homeowner knows the suspect.
