Kansas Self-Defense: Convenience store clerk fires shot at robber :: 08/23/2017

A 23-year-old clerk at a Circle K convenience store shot at a man who tried reaching into his register late Sunday.

Wichita police Officer Charley Davidson said a man went into the store at 2356 S.Seneca at about 9 p.m. and purchased an item. When the register opened, he jumped the counter.

Davidson said the employee drew a handgun and fired one shot. The attempted robber was not found, so police don’t know if he was injured, Davidson said.

A similar incident happened about an hour later at the Circle K at 2001 S. Oliver. A 20-year-old employee told police a man purchased something at the register and when she opened it, he demanded money, took it and left.

Investigators are trying to determine if the two events are connected, Davidson said.
