Illinois Self-Defense: Woman shoots man in self defense in luxury South Loop apartment :: 03/11/2019

A woman shot a man in self defense Sunday morning in a luxury apartment in the South Loop.

The pair was arguing at 10:54 a.m. in an apartment in the 1000 block of South Clark when the man started battering the woman, according to Chicago police.

The woman opened fire and struck the man in the leg, police said.

The shooting happened on the 26th Floor of the luxury apartments “1000 South Clark,” according to a neighborhood who asked not to be named.

The man, 30, was rushed to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition, police said. The woman, 29, was taken to Stroger Hospital after suffering a broken hand, bruises and lacerations.

The man appears to have been shot in self defense, police said. He was arrested.

Area Central Detectives are investigating.
