SPIRIT LAKE, Idaho -- The Bonner County Sheriff released the identity of the man shot and killed during a domestic battery on Tuesday at around 11:00 p.m.

Scott Spangler, 44 from Priest River, was killed from gunshot wound. The Bonner Co. Sheriff confirmed Spangler was fatally shot by his wife in self-defense during a dispute the two were having at the 4800 block of Spirit Lake Cutoff Road.

When officers responded to a 911 call, the woman and a child had fled the scene. Spangler was already dead according to deputies. Authorities said the two nine-year-old kids were home at the time of the fight.

Further investigation found that the woman had bruises consistent with self-defense. She was briefly hospitalized according to investigators.

The identities of the female and child have not been released yet and no one is in custody. The Sheriff's Office said they do not anticipate filing charges.
