STOCKBRIDGE, GA (CBS46) - A home invasion suspect who was also suspected of robbing a Dollar General was killed by a homeowner.

Robert MacDonald, 26, held a knife to an employee of a Dollar General in Stockbridge while demanding money. The suspect fled the scene after jumping onto the bed of a truck that was waiting for him outside.

MacDonald jumped from the truck when officers attempted to stop the vehicle.

While officers were investigating the armed robbery, patrol officers were dispatched to a home invasion on Kinsey Drive. According to police, the suspect matched the description of MacDonald.

The homeowner grabbed his gun from behind the door, pointed it at the suspect, yell for help. The homeowner's father heard his son, came down the stairs with a gun, and shot the suspect in the chest.
