Georgia Self-Defense: Deputies: Evans mother was protecting herself, teen son when shooting boyfriend :: 02/14/2019

EVANS, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- A 42-year-old man is dead after deputies say his girlfriend was protecting herself and her teen son.

Billy Rogers was shot in the chest in a home on the 900 block of Hunting Horn Way around 2 a.m. That's in Columbia County's Bridlewood subdivision.

Officials with the Columbia County Sheriff's Office say it all started with an argument between Rogers and his girlfriend's son. News 12 is told Rogers was using his hands, legs, and teeth as weapons against the 15-year-old boy.

Deputies believe she was trying to protect herself and her son when she fired the shot.

For now, investigators are calling the shooting a self-defense incident.
