Florida Self-Defense: New Port Richey Mother Says Son Strangled Her So She Shot Him :: 02/01/2018

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL – A 25-year-old New Port Richey man is being treated for a gunshot wound after his mother reportedly shot him when he tried to strangle her.

The Pasco County Sheriff's Office said deputies were called to a home at 7833 Prospect Hill Circle Tuesday, Jan. 30, after neighbors heard shots fired.

When deputies arrived, they found Michael Taylor with a gunshot wound to the stomach.

According to sheriff's reports. Taylor and his mother were fighting about him waking up to go to work when Taylor began strangling her. The mother said she broke free and grabbed a gun in the house. When Taylor tried to strangle her again, she said she shot him.

Taylor was transported to Bayonet Point Hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening.
