Florida Self-Defense: Man Shot After Allegedly Stabbing Miami Barbershop Owner Dies :: 11/10/2017

The man accused of stabbing a Miami barbershop owner, who in turn shot his alleged attacker, has died from his injuries, police said.

Police launched an investigation Thursday in Allapattah after one person was stabbed and another was shot.

The incident happened around 11 a.m. at the Cooperstown Barbershop at 2060 Northwest 22nd Avenue.

Miami Police initially said when officers arrived, they found two people shot. They later confirmed that one of the people had been stabbed.

Both of the people taken to the hospital were in serious condition, officials said.

Family members identified the man who was stabbed as 45-year-old Serban Beriguete, the owner of the barbershop.

According to the family members, Beriguete was working when he was suddenly stabbed by a client. The family members said Beriguete opened fire in self-defense, shooting the man who stabbed him.

Beriguete's daughter Jennefer said her father had no choice but to shoot.

"My dad defended himself by shooting him," Jennefer said. “He didn’t really make any sort of communication with anyone he just went straight to the back and attacked my dad.

Police said they're working to figure out what led to the incident. Authorities will not release the identity of the man who died until the notification of next-of-kin.
