DENVER - A man is claiming self-defense after he allegedly shot another man who he said was involved in physical dispute with a woman. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.
It happened around 8 p.m. Wednesday outside an apartment complex at 10700 E. Dartmouth Ave. in Denver.
Police say the man told them that he witnessed the victim "manhandling" a woman during an apparent domestic dispute. The alleged shooter tried to stop the fight and an altercation ensued.
Police say the witness shot the other man in the torso during the altercation. The victim was transported to the hospital.
The shooter stayed on scene and waited for police to arrive. It's not known if the shooter will be arrested. Police say he is cooperating with their investigation.
The names of those involved have not been released.
