COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A would-be robber picked the wrong target at a hotel in Colorado Springs Monday.
The guest, an enlisted Army soldier, told police he saw a man in the hallway at Hotel Elegante checking the plumbing. That man then came to the soldier's door and asked to inspect the plumbing.
"The man's act was convincing and the guest allowed him into the room, after he put his dogs away," police said. "The suspicious man entered the room, pulled his hoodie over his head, and displayed a knife."
The off-duty soldier told police that he grabbed his own gun and talked the suspect onto the ground.
"Officers arrived and confirmed the man was not an employee of the hotel," police said.
The 43-year-old suspect was arrested on suspicion of burglary and related charges.
