California Self-Defense: Gunshots prompts shelter-in-place order near Napa :: 12/04/2015

(BCN) - The Napa County Sheriff's Office has ordered residents to shelter in place Thursday morning in an unincorporated area near Napa after a gunshot was heard in or near a residence where a search warrant was to be served, a sheriff's captain said.

Sheriff's deputies went to the residence in the 1600 block of Mary C Drive in response to a report of a shooting during a kidnapping attempt, and a report of a person being treated for a gunshot wound at the Queen of the Valley Medical Center, sheriff's Capt. Doug Pike said.

Pueblo Vista Elementary School on Barbara Road behind the residence was locked down and secured by Napa police, Pike said.

San Francisco police notified the Napa Police Department late Wednesday night after a person told San Francisco police he shot someone in self-defense to prevent being kidnapped in Napa, Pike said.

The Queen of the Valley Medical Center also informed Napa police it was treating an uncooperative gunshot victim, Pike said.

The county's Major Crimes Task Force was still stationed outside the Mary C Drive residence late Thursday morning, Pike said.
